Sprinklers stay running when timer is off

If your timer says that the sprinklers are not on but you still see heads running and that zone continues to run, you may have a stuck valve.  

The easiest thing to do is turn one of the blue handles on the back flow preventor on the side of the house to the off position.  Once it is off, the water will stop flowing and that zone will shut off.
